VALORANT Player Locked Out by Used CPU's Hardware Ban
Buying a used processor is supposed to be the cheap, sensible way to upgrade a gaming PC. For one German VALORANT player, it reportedly ended with them locked out of the game entirely.
According to Kotaku, which picked up the player's story from Reddit, Riot Games' anti-cheat system Vanguard flagged a secondhand AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D. The player says the flag came from the chip's previous owner, who allegedly cheated in VALORANT. The new owner had nothing to do with that, but they're the one who can't play. Riot has not independently confirmed the claim in the available reporting, so for now this is one player's account.
