Pirates of the Burning Sea Resurfaces With a Steam Page

Pirates of the Burning Sea is back on the horizon. Sort of.

The nautical MMORPG has turned up on Steam again, with a store page now live and the game listed as "coming soon." That's the whole announcement. There's no date, no trailer drop and no fresh word from anyone behind it. Still, for a game that launched back in 2008, simply appearing on the biggest PC storefront is enough to get some old sea dogs talking.

A Pirate Game Ahead of Its Time

Pirate fantasy has had plenty of moments in the spotlight since then. Pirates of the Burning Sea came before a lot of the more modern swashbuckling content players know today, and that history matters. When it arrived in 2008, critics were broadly positive. The reviews were solid.

WoW Forever Skyborne Race Video Details Factions, Gliding

Blizzard is not slowing down. The World of Warcraft Forever promotional push rolls on this week, and this time the spotlight lands on the one new race people can't stop arguing about: the Skyborne.

Some players are intrigued. Others are rolling their eyes. The community has already given them a pile of nicknames, including Blue Elves, Sky Smurfs and Draenei 2.0, and none of them are especially flattering. Blizzard seems well aware of this. The new race video reads less like a simple feature list and more like an effort to convince doubters that there's real substance behind the striking look.

ZeroSpace Adds Full Xol Roster for Galactic War Season 1

If you have been waiting to field an army of chrome-plated robot aliens, ZeroSpace finally has room for you.

The early access real-time strategy game has pushed out a new content drop. The headline is simple: the Xol, its robotic alien race, can now be played across far more of the game than before. Not every Xol unit is gleaming, but plenty of them are. Given that the race is a group of machines that only recently broke free and became sentient, a bit of shine seems fair.

It's a meaningful step. A faction that only exists in a corner of a game is a curiosity. A faction you can take into every mode is a real choice.

WoW D&D Book Previews Reveal Adapted Dungeons, Crafting

Turning World of Warcraft into a Dungeons & Dragons campaign has never been hard.

Anyone who has run a tabletop session knows the trick. Swap out a few names, drop the party somewhere in Azeroth, call the big bad a Lich King or a Dragon Aspect, and you're more or less there. The two games have been trading ideas for decades. Orcs, elves, dwarves, dragons, dungeons with bosses at the end of them: the DNA overlaps so heavily that a straight reskin would probably get the job done for most groups.

That's exactly why the newest previews of the official World of Warcraft book for Dungeons & Dragons are worth a look. They suggest the people behind it weren't content with the easy route.

Overwatch Season 5 Adds Vampire Hero Doctrine, Escort Map

Overwatch has gone a little gothic.

Season 5 of the hero shooter launched today, October 6, and it leans hard into undead territory. There's a vampire support hero, a volcanic prison map, a resurrection-themed event and, in a twist that fits the mood, a batch of old battle passes brought back from the dead. Spooky skins are in the mix too, but they're almost the least interesting part of this update.

Here's what's arriving and why some of it matters more than it first appears.

Doctrine: A Support Who Drains as Much as He Heals

The headline act is Doctrine, the newest support hero. His whole kit is built on his vampiric nature, which lets him manipulate the life force of both teams at once.
