Nova Era: Atom Opens Sci-Fi MMORPG Playtest on Steam
Space MMORPGs tend to fall into familiar patterns. There's the spreadsheet-heavy sandbox, the theme park with a starship paint job, and the survival game with better lighting. Nova Era: Atom is trying something a little different, and as of today, anyone curious enough can find out whether it works.
Developer Amazing Game has launched an open playtest for the sci-fi MMORPG on Steam. It mixes space exploration with extraction gameplay and borrows heavily from Chinese mythology. On paper, that's not a combination you see every day.
Welcome to the sTring Realm
The playtest drops players into what the studio describes as a "high-dimensional universe," called the sTring Realm. It's a big place, or at least it's pitched as one. There are galaxies to chart, alien creatures to run into, and abandoned megastructures scattered throughout.
