Invictus Gaming is going to Worlds.

It took the long way round, but IG secured the League of Legends Pro League's fourth and final ticket to Worlds 2026 on Saturday, 19 September. The LPL is China's top-flight League of Legends competition. IG beat JD Gaming 3-1 in the lower-bracket final of the LPL 2026 Regional Finals. That result books IG a place at the League of Legends World Championship alongside Anyone's Legend, Bilibili Gaming and Top Esports.

For JDG, it's a painfully familiar ending. The loss closes the team's last route to qualification through the Regional Finals, and leaves it third in the event for the third year running. Three years, same step, same result. That has to sting.

LEC Versus was a one-season experiment.

The League of Legends EMEA Championship (the LEC, Riot's top-flight league for Europe, the Middle East and Africa) is dropping the format for 2027 and returning to its familiar 10-team winter setup. Commissioner Artem Bykov confirmed the decision in an interview with Sheep Esports at the LEC 2026 Summer Finals in Nice, France, on September 19.

That makes the 2026 run the first and last edition of Versus. It's a quick exit for a format that, by several measures, did exactly what it was supposed to do.
