Warframe Halloween Brings Naberus, Nightmares and Ki'Teer

Warframe Halloween Brings Naberus, Nightmares and Ki'Teer

October is here, and live-service games are switching on the spooky lights. Some of these seasonal events lean towards the creepy, others towards the cute. Warframe, the free-to-play shooter, does a bit of both, and it is stacking several Halloween activities on top of each other this year.

Two of them are already live. A third arrives in the middle of the month. If you have been away from the Origin System for a while, this is a good time to log back in.

Nights of Naberus: Back to Daughter

The headline act is Nights of Naberus, Warframe's long-running Halloween celebration. The setup will be familiar to returning players. You head to the Cambion Drift, one of the game's open zones, and complete Bounties there. Those Bounties pay out Mother Tokens, which you then hand over to Daughter in exchange for event rewards.

That loop hasn't changed, and honestly, it doesn't need to. What matters is what's on the shelf. Items from earlier years are back in the rotation, so anyone who missed a cosmetic the first time around gets another chance at it. That alone will matter to collectors, who know how frustrating it is to watch a limited item disappear for a full year.

There is fresh stock too:

  • Calaverita Liset Skin - a new look for your Liset, the ship players use as their home base
  • Follie Coulrophobia Glyph
  • Voruna Prime Massacre Glyph
  • Sirius vs. Orion Poster

Nights of Naberus has already started, so there's no reason to wait. Every Bounty you run now is a Mother Token in the bank.

Hallowed Nightmares Runs in Parallel

The second event, Hallowed Nightmares, is also already active. It runs alongside Nights of Naberus and wraps up on November 2, which gives players roughly a month to work through it.

The focus here is a Halloween-themed Tactical Alert, plus a showdown with the Jack O'Naut. Clear the content and you can pick up a handful of new rewards:

  • Jack O'Naut Keychain Sugatra
  • Jack O'Naut Recall Glyph
  • A Manic Noggle
  • 50,000 Credits

Most of that list is cosmetic, but the 50,000 Credits stand out. Credits are one of Warframe's core currencies, so a Halloween detour pays off for players who don't care about decorations, too.

"Scare-o" Ki'Teer Returns October 16

The final piece lands on October 16. That's when the "Scare-o" Ki'Teer event comes back, featuring a Halloween version of the Void Trader. This variant will turn up every weekend, and he's bringing items that players haven't been able to get before.

It is a smart bit of scheduling. Giving people a reason to check in each weekend keeps the event alive well past the initial rush, rather than letting it fizzle out after the first few days.

Our Take

Seasonal events have become the heartbeat of most live-service games, and Warframe's approach this year is a useful example of how to do it without much fuss. Nothing here reinvents the formula. Nights of Naberus still runs on Bounties and tokens, and Hallowed Nightmares is built around a single themed alert. But layering three events, one of them recurring on weekends, suggests Digital Extremes wants October to feel busy rather than like a one-off cosmetic drop. Coming shortly after the Iceblade of Narin update, it also gives players a lighter reason to stick around between bigger content releases.

The decision to bring back older rewards is worth noting as well. Many games treat limited cosmetics as a pressure tactic. Warframe re-offering past items softens that fear of missing out, which tends to sit well with a community that has historically been sensitive to aggressive monetisation.

Warframe also isn't alone. GTA Online's Halloween events stretch across the whole month, and Fortnite has Five Nights at Freddy's in Fortnitemares. With that much competition for players' evenings, it is worth watching whether the weekend Void Trader visits are enough to keep Warframe in regular rotation through to November 2. Keep an eye on what new items he actually brings on October 16 - that will probably decide how many lapsed players return.
