Star Wars Galaxies Legends Galactic Moon Festival Returns

Star Wars Galaxies Legends Galactic Moon Festival Returns

Star Wars Galaxies Legends has never been short on things to fear. Rancors will happily turn a careless adventurer into a snack. Ewoks are, depending on who you ask, either adorable or a menace. Starting Friday, October 9, there's one more reason to keep the lights on: the Galactic Moon Festival is back for 2026.

The Galactic Moon Festival is the game's Halloween event, and it's an old friend at this point. The announcement gives Friday, October 9 as the start date and says the festival runs through a Monday. However, the end date it lists is also October 9, which is almost certainly a typo. If you're planning your week around it, check the team's official channels for the actual closing date.

A Familiar Night Out

Let's be honest: most Legends players have done this before, and the developers aren't pretending otherwise. This year's version is a returning event rather than a reinvention. If you're expecting a brand new storyline, you'll be disappointed. If you just want to slip back into a costume and cause some mischief, you're in the right place.

It all starts with an NPC named Z'ozpheratu, who will transform you into a spooky costume. From there, you can hunt down citizens taking part in trick or treat and give them a proper scare. That's the core loop, and it's a charming one. Not every seasonal event has to be about grinding.

Several familiar activities are back alongside it:

  • The Dead Forest, a returning location for the event
  • A haunted house to explore
  • Riddles for players who prefer puzzles to fighting
  • The Witch-Queen Charal's request, which asks you to wipe out the Ewoks - a quest that will probably please some players more than it should

Loot, Dungeons and Haunted Homes

There are plenty of themed rewards to collect, which is usually what keeps people logging in during events like this. The horror-flavoured heroic dungeons are also coming back, so groups who want something heavier than costumes and candy have content to work through.

Then there's the Halloween home showcase. Housing has always been a big part of the Star Wars Galaxies identity, and the showcase lets decorators enter their homes in a themed competition. For players who spend more time arranging furniture than hunting rancors, this is likely to be the highlight of the whole festival.

None of it is new, and that's fine. Familiarity is a big part of the appeal. Seasonal events in long-running MMOs work a bit like holidays in real life: you know what's coming, and that's the point.

Our Take

The Galactic Moon Festival fits into a busy October across multiplayer games. Many big and small titles are rolling out Halloween content right now, from Palia's Spiritfest to GTA Online's month of Halloween events. Most of those games are backed by commercial studios with full-time teams. Legends being able to stand next to them with a full slate of activities, dungeons and a housing contest says a lot about how committed its community is.

What stands out to us is that the festival leans entirely on returning content. That's not a criticism. For a project built around keeping an old game alive, reliable annual events are arguably more valuable than flashy additions. They give lapsed players a clear reason to return each autumn, and they reinforce the sense of a world with its own calendar. It's a pattern we've also seen in other revival projects, such as the Marvel Heroes rogue server TAHITI, where getting the familiar things right seems to matter more than reinventing them.

It's worth watching whether future runs of the festival add anything new on top of the classics, and how much attention the home showcase gets this year. In the short term, though, the most practical thing to keep an eye on is that end date. Until the team clarifies it, don't leave your trick or treating until the last minute.
