Neverness to Everness Patch Opens Pukaland, Adds Blackbird
Pukaland is not a great name for a theme park.
Say it out loud a couple of times and you'll see the problem. But if you can get past the branding, the newest location in Neverness to Everness looks like a lot of fun. The gacha RPG's latest patch adds a full in-game amusement park, a new town, a new playable character, and a pile of events. Judging by the trailer, the developers put real effort into making the park more than a joke about its name.
Welcome to the park
Pukaland is the headline attraction here, and it's built around exactly what you'd expect: rides and attractions. Players can work through these activities and earn a currency called Puka Stars along the way.
Those stars feed into a neat little loop. Collect enough and you can trade them for a Gold Puka Pass, which gives you a steep discount on the park's attractions. So the more you play in Pukaland, the cheaper it gets to keep playing in Pukaland. It's a self-contained economy for a self-contained space, and it gives the park a reason to exist beyond a quick sightseeing visit.
Not everyone wants to spend their evenings queuing for virtual rides, of course. For those players, the update also opens St. Arbor, a new town at the foot of a mountain. It gives the patch a quieter alternative to the noise and lights of the amusement park, and more map to explore for anyone who just likes poking around a new area.
Meet Blackbird
This is a gacha game, so a big patch means a new character to roll for. This time it's Blackbird, and she has a strong concept.
Blackbird can turn into a bird and dart around the map, powered by what the game presents as witchy magic. In a fight, she swings a flail made of energy. And she does all of this while wearing an absolutely enormous hat that somehow never falls off. Based on the trailer, the design leans hard into cute, and it's easy to see why the developers chose her as the face of this update.
She's not just a new banner pull, either. The patch includes story content built around Blackbird, so players who like to know who they're spending their currency on will get some background on her.
Everything else in the box
Beyond the park, the town and the new witch, the update fills in the gaps with the usual live-service extras. There's more of the game's ongoing Porsche cross-promotion, a range of events, and login rewards for players who check in regularly.
There's also a fan creation contest with prizes on offer, which is a nice nod to the community that has formed around the game. The full patch notes cover all the details, and trailers for both Pukaland and Blackbird are available for anyone who wants a closer look before jumping in.
Our Take
This patch feels like a statement about what kind of game Neverness to Everness wants to be. A new character and some story are standard for any gacha RPG update. A whole amusement park with its own currency and discount pass is something different. It suggests the developers see the world itself as a product, not just a backdrop for unlocking characters.
That matters for players who are tired of gacha games that boil down to rolling, upgrading and repeating. A place like Pukaland, where the reward loop sits inside the activities rather than on a banner screen, gives people a reason to log in that isn't tied directly to spending. Whether the attractions hold up after the first few visits is the real question, and it's one only time and player feedback will answer.
The Porsche deal is also worth noticing. Brand tie-ins have become routine in live games, from the Apex Legends Street Fighter 6 crossover to Fortnite's Five Nights at Freddy's collaboration. A car manufacturer showing up in a fantasy-flavoured RPG with witches and theme parks is a stranger fit, though, and it is worth watching whether the game keeps adding partners of this kind or saves them for special occasions.
What to watch next is how Pukaland and St. Arbor are supported after launch. If the park gets new rides and events in later patches, it could become a regular hangout. If not, it risks turning into a one-off novelty. Either way, Blackbird and her giant hat will probably keep a lot of players busy for now.
